What is CPower Total Meter Solution?

Total Meter Solution streamlines CPower meter ownership and provides a low-cost, end-to-end solution that reduces the risk and concerns associated with meter downtime, increases reliability and security, provides the framework for automation, reduces costs of metering repairs and replacement, and eliminates upfront costs including meter install costs.

In addition to CPower’s world class 24/7 monitoring and validation, Total Meter Solution includes:

  • Installation of your new CPower meter—up-to-date, highly secure and reliable technology, for new and replacement meter installation
  • Complete service coverage including repairs and replacement of equipment for the life of the meter *
  • All updates including data, cellular service and complete management of your meters and data
  • Access to CPower’s secure customer Web portal, to see your energy usage on your desktop and mobile device–energy management in the palm of your hand
  • All hardware and software needed to participate in DR automation (where applicable in your energy management plan)

* Total Meter Solution does not cover meter service due to vandalism, theft, and other damage outside of CPower’s control.

That’s a considerable amount of service. How much will my Total Meter Solution cost me?

The subscription fee for Total Meter Solution, or TMS, for an existing CPower metered customer is just $50 per month per meter, through the life of the meter.

How will I be billed for my TMS subscription?

You won’t. Your subscription fees will be automatically included in your existing CPower contract and will be automatically deducted from your regular demand response revenue payments from CPower. You will not need to pay an invoice.

What about any upfront or out-of-pocket costs? How will I be billed for those?

You won’t. Total Meter Solution is exactly that–a total solution that combines all hardware and service costs and CPower 24/7 monitoring in one low-cost subscription that eliminates upfront and out-of-pocket costs for the customer. That means no upfront costs for installing a new meter or replacing existing meters.

I have several CPower meters. Does the Total Meter Solution subscription cover all my meters?

No. The subscription fee is applied per meter. If you have several meters, each will have its own subscription and its own service. That said, if you have multiple meters in close proximity to each other you may be able to accomplish load monitoring through a data collection point. Ask CPower to conduct a site visit to make that determination.

My TMS subscription is for the life of an individual meter. What is my meter’s lifespan?

To provide and maintain the most reliable systems, CPower recognizes the lifespan of our meters to be no more than seven years.

What if my meter needs replacing?

CPower will replace existing meters with the newest, most secure and ADR capable meter technology available, at no upfront cost to you.

What happens to my TMS subscription for the old meter? Does it simply end, and a new subscription is put into place?

Total Meter Solution is a function of each meter and its corresponding lifespan. If a new TMS enabled meter replaces an existing meter, a new TMS subscription will be applied. New TMS enabled meter installations will be charged at $250 for the first 24-months and $50 per month for subsequent months for the life of the meter. For example, if and when the meter reaches five years of age and needs major service, we will replace the meter and begin the 24-month, $250/mo. subscription plan. After seven years, we will proactively attempt to replace the meter.

Can I add non-CPower meters to my TMS subscriptions?

No. The fee covers the installation and service of CPower-sourced systems only. Which is in itself a good reason to install CPower metering.

How do I sign up for CPower Total Meter Solution?

You’ve already done it. All existing CPower customers with CPower-installed meters are automatically enrolled in Total Meter Solution.

Great! When does my TMS subscription begin?

TMS will be implemented and associated costs will begin based on the date in the table below corresponding with the energy market in which you have meters.

Who else provides this level of meter service at this low, fixed monthly cost?
